Barcelona Busker Rai 2018

The “barrio” of Barcelona La Ribera welcomed the street artists festival organized by RAI from Thursday to Saturday.

For three consecutive days, from Thursday 26 until Saturday 28 July, the RAI association (Recursos d’Animaciò Intercultural) organized the street artists festival. A project dedicated to expression and cultural exchange through street artists, jugglers, musicians, theater. This year the event had France as a host country.

During the festival, the Piazza di Sant Augustì, Piazza Sant Pere and Piazza De l’allada Vermell allowed the performance of many artists for a total of 27 performances that lasted from the late afternoon from 19.00 pm to 24.00.

The performances have given way to entertain any type of audience from the youngest to the oldest, from the locals of the district to curious and tourists.

The term busker has old origins and preserves the ancient art of street artists, where the only form of livelihood and survival is the free offer called “hat”. At the end of the show the artist, with his cap held upside down, passes to receive a remuneration based on the appreciation of the spectator audience.

RAI is a youth association that for over twenty years has dedicated itself to the promotion of the art and culture of Casc Antic (the ancient center of Barcelona). For more info you can consult the web page www.buskerai.org
