The Extreme Sailing Series, the GC-32 catamaran championship together with the class called Flying Phantoms, was held for the second year in a row. The event started on Thursday 14 and lasted until Sunday 17 June where they competed: England, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, Denmark, Oman, Austria.

During the four days, the different weather conditions gave the captains the chance to demonstrate strength, speed and technique. Arriving first at each race session required not only physical qualities but above all tactical skills.

At the end of the 26 races the Swiss team Alinghi, captained by co-skipper Arnaud Psarofaghis, took the lead by winning the act 3 of Barcelona, ​​with a total score of 278 points.

During the day on Saturday two Oman Team and Red Bull Sailing Team catamarans had a collision. The incident has led to the temporary suspension of the Omani team forced to repair part of the catamaran. Fortunately, the clash did not cause any damage to the respective crews.

This year the organization dedicated a part of the Race Village Area to the refreshment area with characteristic food trucks. A sign of further care and improvement by the organization, for those who have prepared to observe the event from the dock accompanied by the usual live news.

A second year that confirms the commitment of the organization to give prestige to Barcelona as a city suitable for nautical sporting events.
