Hidden among the narrow streets of the neighborhood is a center dedicated to art

Atelier de Pilar Güell a space of creation in the Raval

Lose myself walking around the Raval is one of my pastimes. I loosen the pace of my step, stop to look at a shop windows or sneak into one of the many streets. A few weeks ago, absorbed in my thoughts, almost stumbling around against a sign placed on the ground. I look around to see what is written and I read: Art exposiciòn, Zeigeist el espiritu de la epoca.

An art exhibition!
I am intrigued by the room that houses paintings and various artistic works. Pausing, I discover that the room hides another space behind a red curtain much larger and more interesting ! A large room with arches and columns surrounded by photos and paintings centered on the theme of the poster.
What was the name? Ah yes, Zeigeist!
I admit I am an ignorant on the subject of art but the welcoming environment makes me linger further.
I greet a guy, Hugo, who kindly explains to me a little about what it is like, while a musical duo prepares for a jam session.

Atelier de Pilar Güell

Hugo is part of the group that runs the Atelier de Pilar Güell.
But what is it? It is an art gallery and cultural promotion with the aim of bringing the public closer to art and vice versa. Other collaborators include Victòria, Hugo, Rai, María and Patrick. The name is dedicated to Pilar Guell, Victòria’s grandmother, painter and source of great inspiration for her niece. All have artistic talents. Who in photography, who in the cinema or the fine arts. Everyone collaborates with ideas, projects and of course the passion for art that is common to all. The atelier constantly presents exhibitions, promotes artists to the public and curious to mix with music in a “friendly” environment.

The Atelier de Pilar Güell is located at Carrer de les penedides 8, in the heart of the Raval of Barcelona. A long time ago this place was an ancient stable which over time and after many uses became a meeting point for lovers and curious on the art.
A special thanks to Hugo for his kindness, Victoria for the information provided and all the artists of Zeigesit exposition: Imma Vallmitjana, Dagui Pierro, Blai Catafal, DaGraVile, Curtiço, Nicolas Garreau, Hugo Finlay, María Cortés, Juan Carlos Beneyto, Roman Bonet, Ángeles Morando, Juan Niubo, Ester Benages y Simone Pagliei. .
